Kevin and Alyssa have been married for 15 years and living in Seaside on the North Coast for 8. They have a daughter, one dog and two cats. Hopefully you’re not allergic if you’re ordering a bag from us.
Kevin bought his first sewing machine and taught himself to sew in 2020 during the covid-19 pandemic. As an avid backpack hunter he had found some holes in the gear market that he wanted to make for himself. One machine turned into another… and then into a couple more. He began sewing his own packs and storage bags to start but lots of backpacking related projects followed.
Six machines later (4 keepers) Alyssa finally convinced him to sew something that wasn’t made out of nylon and dyneema. As someone who loves all things old, handmade and one of a kind, repurposed materials have Alyssa’s heart. She’s been thrifting small pieces of vintage fabrics since Kevin began sewing. Bags felt like a great place to start since Kevin had spent the last five years working in bags of various shapes and sizes.
Outside of our straps and hardware everything is secondhand. There are far too many wonderful textiles in this world to buy new. We hope you’ll love these truly unique bags. This first run is essentially all the same shape. It took us many tries to get a pattern that we both loved, and you can see some of the evolution of that over the first thirty or so bags. We are hoping to have a crossbody bag and small duffle in the near future.
If you have a quilt that you would like a bag made out of you can send a message below or email Kevin at Kevin@UnderwoodBagCo.Com
Thank you for supporting our family.
